Healthy Bodies with Dr. Bommy Mershon 

Dr. Bommy Mershon visited the kindergarten classes to teach about Healthy Bodies.  Her interactive presentation included helpful pictures depicting what the heart does and how blood travels through the body.  

• The children did an experiment where we ran in place for a minute and checked how much our heart rates rose.  Dr. Mershon used a Pulse oximeter on some children so we could watch their numbers rise! 
  
• We learned how our lungs and diaphragm work.  She made a model using a bottle, balloons, and a straw to demonstrate how the lungs inflate and deflate. 
  
• We learned how to keep our bodies healthy and to limit TV to 30 minutes a day MAX. A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body.

Dear Middle School Parents,

I would like to thank you for your continued support of the ministry and mission of Trinity School. It has been a pleasure to see the students learn and grow throughout this school year. Although we have certainly missed the guiding presence of Sister Catherine, we can all take comfort in the fact that her spirit lives on in all those whose lives she touched.

In several interscholastic academic and fine arts competitions in recent months, Trinity students have been recognized for their talents in instrumental music, engineering, and math, among others. In addition, it is a singular joy for the faculty and me when we get the news in February about high school acceptances for our eighth graders, many of whom were accepted to all of the schools to which they applied, and are now deciding between scholarship offers from multiple schools.

Students and teachers have been hard at work in recent weeks preparing for Student-Led Conferences. For the seventh and eighth graders, this has been an opportunity to learn about 21st Century Learning Skills, and they will be sharing what they have learned about these critical skills during their conferences. For fifth and sixth graders, the conferences provide an opportunity to reflect on what they have learned so far this year, and how they can continue to grow as learners. Please review your child’s report card prior to the conference so that you can discuss progress and areas for continued growth.

There are many other events in the works that will showcase our students’ diverse talents. For example, our drama club, under the direction of Mrs. D’Antuono and Mrs. Atkinson, will stage their production of Groovy. In addition, all middle students will participate in the STEM fair, under the direction of Mrs. Stauffer and Mrs. Jaworski. We hope that you will be able to join us for one or both of these events.

During this season of Lent, please encourage your child to take some time to give back to the community. Two ways to do so at Trinity are the annual Lenten Sandwich Ministry on Wednesdays and the FISH donation drive. There are so many areas of need, I am sure that students can find some way to help. As we enter the final stretch of the school year, please take time to talk to your child about how he or she can give back to the community in which we all live.

A Letter from Mrs. Martinez

March 2019


Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that we are into our last trimester of this year, themed, Grace, Gratitude and Joy. The theme has served to not only remind us daily of Sister Catherine’s legacy and her generous, giving spirit, but also has encouraged us to more deeply recognize and appreciate God’s handiwork unfolding daily. 

Despite the many interruptions, we experienced during the months of January and February, I am proud of the children’s diligence throughout. Academically, this trimester our students have made excellent progress, are growing spiritually, and maturing socially. Thus far, the implementation of the Daily 5 into our Language Arts curriculum has been quite successful.  It is amazing to observe the children’s growing independence in their learning, and their zest for reading that this approach has cultivated. We continue to forge ahead in the area of technology to provide growing numbers of ways for teachers and students to utilize the tools of technology.

The season of Lent offers a time for all of us to reflect and practice more intentionally daily prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. It provides for us the opportunity to not just give-up something, but to give of ourselves, as well. Some of the ways readily available for Trinity families to engage in the practice of sacrifice and almsgiving during this holiest season of the Church include; participating in our Wednesday afternoon sandwich making, bringing in food items for our annual FISH collection, volunteering to help at our April 7th Bingo at St. Martin’s Home for the Aged, and Mite Box offerings. Additionally, during Lent we hold Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel before school every Friday.

Spring holds many special events and activities, some of which you will hear about from the classroom teachers and most of which are highlighted on our school calendar and in our weekly Newsy Notes, so please stay tuned into these communications.

I cannot help but feel deep gratitude for the privilege of spending each day of the week with your children. Your continued contributions and support enhance tremendously the many learning opportunities available to benefit our Trinity students, thank you. I look forward to seeing you at one of the many events in the weeks ahead.

A Letter From Mr. Wilson

In Loving Memory of Sister Catherine

March 20, 2019

Dear Parents,

We are well on the road to meeting our goal set on the first day of school which was to make this “the best year ever.” With Sister Catherine watching over us and praying for us we should end this year and check this goal off with a big smile. The Trinity students continue to show the Goodness of God in all areas; like middle school competitions, boys and girls basketball, Band, service projects, recess, art, and in academics. I am proud of our students and you should be proud also.

Sister Catherine always said the greatest asset of Trinity School is its volunteers. As we start the final trimester of the school year, we still have a lot of opportunities for volunteers, and we need volunteers. A person doesn’t have to give up a lot of time in order to help but some time will really help. Some opportunities on the horizon are for helping at track and field meets, St. Martin’s Bingo, The Spring Event, Mulch Madness, The Trinity Trot, Admissions Open House, PACT, Golf Tournament, Operation Love, Field Trips, and of course the many committees that need members. Trinity School does not require families to volunteer but we do expect every family to volunteer for something during the school year. There is one trimester left.

The third trimester is an important one. Past history shows that some students think the school year ends after Easter Break, it does not. It is essential that students stay focused, so please encourage your child to continue to do quality work until the last day of school in June. Sister Catherine always said “Remember, God gives you this day only once. Make the most of it.”
